Our concert in St Mary’s church yesterday was Magenta’s last in the choir’s current incarnation. Over the last few months, Life has intervened in our evolution, with several long-standing members announcing they would no longer be able to sing with us. So we decided to take a break for now, after fulfilling our last major booking.
And what a send-off it was! In the heart of Moseley, in a church that harbours many musical memories for the choir, surrounded by our friends and supporters. We shared music from our full history, from ‘Let the River Run’ which we introduced to the repertoire in 2007, to ‘One Love’, which we started at last summer’s Moseley Festival workshop.
And what lies in the future? Well, we don’t know yet. But we do know that we will be getting together again for a reunion workshop in Moseley Festival 2017. It will be an afternoon of no-strings-attached harmonising with friends old and new, and we extend an invitation to all women who love music to come and join us at the All Services Club on Church Road on 2 July.
We should like to end this chapter with thanks to St Mary’s for inviting us to contribute to their coffee morning concert series again, and thanks to all those who have shared our journey over the years, as singers and as listeners.
